World Wellness Group has a big mission: to create a health care model for refugees, asylum seekers and migrants that is integrative, culturally appropriate and cost-neutral. Their aim is to establish sustainable solutions to the specific health problems faced by migrants, refugees and asylum seekers. Almost all of their clients are vulnerable, on low incomes, require interpreters and have mental health problems.
“Our work is based on the premise that every man, woman and child in our community, regardless of language, culture and social position should have access to affordable and quality health care to achieve optimum health and wellbeing enabling them to be fully engaged and contributing members of our community.” Marina Chand, WWG.
The WWG Community Clinic offers three integrated programs in line with holistic health care principles:
  • Mental health and wellbeing program - provides psychological services, counselling and psychiatric treatment with full interpreter services to address a range of mental health conditions
  • GP clinic for refugees and asylum seekers - A part-time GP clinic offers asylum seekers and refugees medical treatment for acute health issues, mental health, immediate follow-up for those released from immigration detention with urgent medical needs and infectious diseases follow up.
  • Traditional medicine program - Clients receive a holistic health assessment and access to naturopathy, homeopathy, acupuncture, naturopathic nutrition and massage therapy.

“Without your assistance I cannot sleep and the nightmares come back. For the first time in three years since coming to Australia my wife says I am not crying in my sleep.” – WWG client
