The continuing support from the Happy Herb Company to the Gunawirra project is going a long way in developing healthy eating practices amongst many indigenous preschool kids and their families around Australia.
A recent donation of $5000 was used to train preschool teachers about good nutrition, hygiene and planting edible gardens in schools. 47 preschool signed up for this unique program about improving nutrition and developing good eating habits in kids.
Kooloora Preschool, one of the schools that participated in the program, has shared some lovely pictures of their littlies helping in the preparation of the area for planting vegies and fruits. The students from the primary school assisted with the planting of the plants and seedlings.
The donation also allowed the school to use the expert assistance of a gardener- Jimmy. He set up vegetable plots in a different part of the school playground. He also planted some fruit trees and made climbing frames to plant some beans.
The aim of Gunawaira project is to support development of healthy eating practices amongst families and children in our community. It also aims to foster cultural awareness about local bush tucker foods. The Happy Herb Company is the Key Project Partner of OHO’s Gunawirra Project.
OHO is thrilled to see the huge difference Gunawirra project is making to the attitude of kids towards fresh, green and healthy food. We will bring you more stories from the green gardens of the schools assisted by the Gunawirra project.
