TOYOHARI OPEN CLINIC ACUPUNCTURE
Australia
ASYLUM SEEKERS JAPANESE ACUPUNCTURE
This project was launched in 2011 in conjunction with the Toyohari Association of Japanese Acupuncture to provide asylum seekers with access to Japanese acupuncture treatments.
Due to restrictions in space and the value of integrating refugees with the broader community an ‘Open Clinic’ model was established. Under this model registered clients are referred for treatment into existing and established clinics by experienced practitioners willing to donate their time.
The Toyohari style of treatment is of particular relevance to clients with traumatic backgrounds due to its very gentle nature.
